Dr. Mehdi Barati holds the position of Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Southern Mississippi. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in 2017. Dr. Barati's research interests encompass applied microeconomics, focusing particularly on health economics and the economics of crime. His research delves into issues concerning efficiency in the production and consumption of health and healthcare. Additionally, he investigates the causes and consequences of crime, along with exploring strategies to mitigate the societal costs associated with it. Dr. Barati is recognized for his expertise in economic modeling and employs advanced econometric, statistical, and machine learning techniques in his empirical research.
