GenCyber91少女集中营鈥檚 Eagle Maker Hub summer camp is set to return with unique 3D printing activities and Hackability camp, with a focus on GenCyber鈥檚 Cybersecurity. The program includes six two-day camps, ranging from June 1 through July 1. Camps will be in-person or hybrid-virtual depending upon preference for camp delivery.

Eagle Maker Hub is the first public makerspace available at a Mississippi university, providing access to tools for digital fabrication, rapid prototyping and coding. Known for developing new ways to inspire learning in traditional subjects with the latest fabrication technology, Eagle Maker Hub鈥檚 primary goal is to place this technology in the hands of all students and teachers to shape future generations.

鈥淓ach two-day camp has a unique area of focus: campers engage in activities like making their own 3D printer to fixing broken items and turning them into their own invention,鈥 said Anna Wan, director of Eagle Maker Hub and professor of mathematics. 鈥淪tudents go home from our camps with something that they built by themselves using high-tech equipment.鈥

Each camp requires its own registration fee, with the exception of the Hackability.camp. The latter is funded by the National Science Foundation and National Security Agency鈥檚 program. This is a free camp offered to high schoolers that use wheelchairs and are interested in technology. This residential camp experience has shifted to hybrid-virtual for students who want to attend virtually, but in-person for students who want to attend.

鈥淭he residential camp focuses on cybersecurity this year, so those concepts will be explored in a fun camp environment,鈥 said Wan. 鈥淎s we become even more reliant on cyber-based technology, ensuring that enough young people are inspired to utilize their talents in cybersecurity is critical to the future of our country鈥檚 national and economic security.鈥

This month-long camp offerings are exclusive to grade school, middle, and high school students. Students will explore revolutionary technology, giving them the opportunity to become inventors and learn about 3D modeling and printing, robotics, coding and designing.
