USM Social Work Intern

Aysha Robertson, a University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Social Work intern, LEND trainee, and Institute for Disability Studies (IDS) graduate assistant, was recently appointed by Gov. Tate Reeves to serve on the Volunteer Mississippi Commission for a three-year term.

Robertson, a TRIAD AmeriCorps alumna, will serve as the Youth Commissioner in her new role. As the appointed Youth Commissioner for the Volunteer Mississippi Commission, Robertson will work closely with the Board of Commissioners, comprised of up to 25 individuals appointed by Reeves. Serving as true volunteers, Volunteer Mississippi Commissioners guide the agency in making a powerful impact on many of Mississippi鈥檚 most critical issues.

The TRIAD AmeriCorps program is an inclusive service program offered through IDS that focuses on health education and general community service. The TRIAD program is funded through Volunteer Mississippi, which has two primary goals, to promote, increase, and recognize volunteers, and expand and diversify AmeriCorps programs, while increasing membership.
